School's Out for Haiti's Children

School is out – YEAH!
Our children finally completed the school year in their new schools. We had moved the kids from the school they had previously been enrolled in to another school. As most of you already know, schooling is not free at any level in Haiti. This is not a result of shortage of schools. There are, in fact, schools everywhere because it is a business and like all businesses and enterprises, some are good, some are better and some are just plain bad - and for various reasons.

Anyway, we decided at the end of last year’s school year that we were going to move our kids to a better where the language of instruction is in French as opposed to Creole. This has posed a degree of difficulty for the kids but most of them have been up to the challenge while others have struggled but they all passed. Jerry passed at the top of his class again. At the recommendation of the school principal, those kids that barely passed, Osline, Emiolita and Loveson will be going to summer school to improve on their grades.

We have just learned that the Baptist Summer camp where the kids usually attend may not be happening this year due to internal reorganization. This has left us scrambling to find activities to occupy the kids’ time.

On another note, we are glad to report that Jean-Kedler is doing very well. He has jolly fellow and has improved his ability walk. His yellowish hair is now almost completely black.

We thank God for all His goodness, faithfulness and grace to us and our work and we thank all of you for your prayers and support.
